What Is Knee Osteoarthritis?
Knee osteoarthritis is the result of cartilage in the knee joint withering away to expose the bone to other bones. Healthy knees should have cartilage that serves as a cushion between the joints. OA reduces this space, often creating bone spurs that cause pain as bones begin to rub against other bones.
In simple words, knee OA is degenerative wear and tear of knee cartilage, which leads to progressive gradual loss of articular cartilage and resulting in development of bony spurs and cyst at margin, that leads to reduction in joint space that allows the joints bones to rub each other creating pain and discomfort in OA patient.

Causes and risk factor for Knee Osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis (OA) is usually caused by repetitive stress to the joint due to activities such as exercise or work. Damage to the cartilage can be the result of a previous joint injury, such as a dislocation or fracture, meniscus injury, ACL injury, Age, gender(females more prone to knee OA), Weight, heredity, Sedentary or inactive life style, injury, and infection are the most common causes of all of factors contributing to osteoarthritis, age is the most important one.

Symptoms of Knee Osteoarthritis:
Common Symptoms
In diffrent patients, all and/or combination of sing and symptom appears
-
- Tenderness
- Crackling sound called crepitus
- Pain that is worse after activity or toward the end of the day
- Pain going up and down stairs
- Pain after standing for long periods of time Morning stiffness
- Limited movement
- Mild swelling around joint
- Painful when getting up after long sitting
In diffrent patients, all and/or combination of sing and symptom appears
Treatment options for Knee OA
Depending upon the severity knee OA and patient condition, treatment options broadly divide into two parts
Depending upon the severity knee OA and patient condition, treatment options broadly divide into two parts
- Conservative management
- Surgical
Conservative Management
(A) Reduce load on joint/offload joints (B) Weight management (C) Excercise (D) Physical Therapy (E) Cold/Hot Fomentation (F) Lifestyle Modification (G) Intra-articular Injection (H) Medicine (I) Stretching, etcAll or a combination of methods for conservative management depending upon severity of Knee OA.
Surgical Method
When all methods of conservative management are exhausted or fail, then one must go for TKR/UKR.Offloading Technology
As we have learned that in knee OA, joint space is reduced and this puts extra load on the knee joint(medial or lateral joint), A technology which open joint space and reduce the load on the joint will reduce/finish pain. is called OFFLOADING TECHNOLOGY. How offloading technology will improve this situation we will learn below
How knee offloading technology works?
The orthotic device which executes this technology is called knee offloader orthosis. So Presenting you the World USFDA APPROVED PATENTED KNEE OFFLOADER
